I have done at least 100 deer capes, zero problems. Oil after shaving and you will gain at least 1 inch of stretch.
I also have cursed the extra damage those heads cause on skins! Lots of extra sewing involved, especialy on a raking shot.

Whatever method works for u. I use a jig saw blade embedded in a wooden handle. Lip skin is ultra thin and a high tack hide paste (Roman 555 PRO VOV)
Turning ears is my least favorite prepping step. I use a spray bottle of water as I go, sometimes it helps sometimes not. Injuries to the ear...
