George

The older I get, the better I was., Male, 77, from Magnolia, Delaware

There is a commercial product called "Snake Tan" out there . I'd set the skin in methanol or denatured alcohol (mixed 50:50 with water). May 15, 2020

      Hey George,
I'm doing first otter and I'm not really sure what to do with the ears. Do they have to be turned like a fox.
And then when you mount them do you use Bondo? Thanks for your time.

Open them and fill with clay. Squeeze out excess and card them.

Hi George! I saw your post from several years ago looking for a freeze dried mice, duck, etc supplier...did you ever locate one? I'd like to purchase some freeze dried mice and ducks and cannot find any. Any leads would be so appreciated

Back then I got them from Evelyn Holmes Habitat. I'm not sure if they're still in business or if she's even alive now.

The reason I’m asking as it’s one of the 30 -35 lbs giant coons Bob Wendt is selling , and it seems to me it’s and average but decent size coons . Thanks for answering, not happy that’s for sure , I’ve ask a few on here and all is saying the same thing . So I believe I’ll be calling him .

George in your best guess a coon that measures 2x 20 x 27 1/2 would weigh him much . Thanks for taking the time Glen

I'd guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-12 pounds. Just a WAG however.

Hi George, just curious what brand epoxy you use for your ears. I am going back to liners and am trying to figure out what epoxy is best. Thanks in advance. Clay

Hey George, I saw on a post that you do not recommend using glycerin for tanning snake hides. What do you recommend? Do you know of any videos, websites or books I could use?

George, at one time the smartest people in the world thought the earth was flat, that did not make it flat.
Up until recently it could not be done, sometimes it takes a determined old man to make it happen.

My fun meter pegged out last year and 60 years was more than enough for me. I felt my work was starting to show my attitude and I hung up the apron. Haven't regretted a second. Do miss some of the people but dealing with SOME of them helped me decide quicker.

In the top margin, click on "Forums". Find the forum you want to ask a question in and click on it. You'll find wording like "Post a New Topic" and when you click on that you can ask the question.

Ive been using a hionis fleshing machine since about 1979 and it has treated me well.I do this from the front with my right hand under the cape.Im looking into updating, and looking at various manufacturers.Since it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks, can you recommend one to use from the front.

I doubt you're older than me and I learned a lot of new tricks up until I retired. Get yourself a Dakota pro in front of you where you dont endanger cutting your thumb off.

Hi George I have not been on the forum in years but I ran across an excerpt on FB from " Presidents I've Known" with the current CMS of the AF picture attached to it. maybe old news to you. I always research everything before I pass along and sure enough your name popped up. I thought I remembered you as retired AF.

20-50 pound monofilament sanded to the shape and length. Sanding with fine Emery cloth makes them opaque.
