i card my fins with wax coated cardboard..(some produce comes in them also butcher shops might have some)
i use three upolsters pins in the back to secure the card..
this gives me complete control of the fin if i want to give it some action i can just curl the cardboard.

then i sprayed some water on the fin and with my finger ran it with the grain to make everything go back together..(this took about 20 seconds)

i then put on a piece of polysoft mesh (thats what WASCO calls it) and i use some jumbo paper clips to secure the fin and the mesh..(takes about 10 seconds)
i dident use any pins.. if i have a split that goes all the way (nets are good for this)
i do use some pins or a staple to help hold the split together.(and sometimes they do come apart some)
if they do i fix with some silk span and fin cream

Thanks FS for sharing.. Here's my fix that works great too. I towel dry each split, I use a small junky art brush and tip it in a gel-type superglue and just coat the inside of the ray, then quickly attach the split ray and spray with accelerator. I then move and do the same with the next split. It holds it very tight and gets it through the drying process with no problems. I've used this method for many years..
