Fleshing a bear, need help!

Discussion in 'Lifesize Mammals' started by aimeeoutdoors, Oct 19, 2009.

  1. Hi Everyone,

I am fleshing a huge bear at the shop alone for the first time. I have a few questions...

Do I leave the last joint in the paws or just leave the claw only?

Also, do I split the tail or just pull it and turn it?

I don't have time to peruse the past postings, so I would appreciate if someone is willing to help me out real quick.

    Thanks so much!

  3. Thanks Paul,

I'm going to take a break and get some dinner, and head back out there to finish this guy before I go to bed tonight.

    I appreciate it.

You get the bear done yet?

  6. Yes, I finished it up. Took me forever, but I was satisfied with the job I did on it. It's still salting and I'll be taking it to the tannery next week along with another one I have to do.

We used a pressure washer to flesh the bear I did in school, it was clean in no time plus it helps to degrease as well. I will be doing this with any bear I get in the future.
