stinky antlers

    I have a set of antlers that are stinky, after searching around for the cause, I found that it seems to be from the marrow in the center of the horns. I drilled down into the antlers (from the base) to try to get it out, but was afraid to drill to far. The marrow still seems to be a bit moist even after sitting for a month. Should I put salt or DP in the drill hole or what can I do to help?

    If they are horns they need removed and clean.But not sure what you have, antlers or horns. Take a look at this...

    Greenhorn , I had a set last year that stunk. I drilled holes in the antlers and injected preserv-it into them, it worked pretty well. The antlers were porous enough that the preserv-it flowed from one hole to another. It didn't completely eliminate the odor but made them tolerable. Denatured alcohol might work also.
