A buddy of mine mounted a trophy buck in 2003 . It was the dry preservative method. the other day he noticed a moth behind it on the wall. Upon inspection, the hair is slipping badly in back (tward the wall) and starting to in front in the arm pits. Can it be saved? Is that knolbachs protex any good? What about all my mounts at home ? Should I do something to protect them before anything starts, while they still look good?

  2. Put the mount in a garbage bag and spray some aerisol insecticide in the bag a nd seal it up. You can sprinkle some borax on your mounts then brush and blow it out for cheap protection. IMO if you flesh well no bugs ever.

RATTRAP Don't laugh, deer think my head is an acorn!

If you know someone with a feezer big enough to put it in, you can freeze below zero for at least 7 days to kill all stages of destructive moths & beetles.
