Hey yall, I'm new to the forum
I caught me a Long nose gar and I wanted to keep the skull and clean it up. I was trying to leave the skin on it if I could.
Someone told me to get all the meat out and pour borax on it. I tried that but it seems its not drying everything out.
So does anyone have any suggestions. It would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

Based on my experience, the borax should do the job. Maybe just give it more time.......assuming you DID get the flesh/meat cleaned out. Did you remove eyes etc?

hang it outside in the sun...I've got several from this year and it only takes about 3 or 4 hot, summer days...pry the mouth open with a stick

Thanks for all the help. Now it smells fishy only if you stick your nose in it. So what should I do, just put it in the room or should I put a varnish of some type on it?
