Questions aboutantler repair with apoxy sculpt and staining

    I'm working on a red stag that had a little issue with a rat that had the munchies. I have repaired all the small chewed spots and textured them. I have gone back and attempted to re-stain the spots and I'm having a hard time blending it. The apoxy scuplt isn't taking the stain like I was hoping it would. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to blend the areas that have been repaired so that the apoxy sculpt isn't so visible? Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

    Honestly in my opinion Epoxy Clay works 100 times better than Epoxy Sculpt. Dremel out where you have applied the sculpt and give the clay a shot, i think you will be much more satisfied and have an easier surface to work with.

    what kind of stains do you guys prefer on this type of antler repair?

    I did an elk where the the guy had cut a large chunck of the bur off I rebiult like mike p said w apoxy clay and mixed water base paint to match sprayed on then roughed up a little came out real well I will see if I can find picks

    paint the repair area with your airbrush with a off white paint, feather out the painted area a little past the repair i use laquer paint, then color to match with artist oils, doing it this way gives you a better surface to paint on and you colors will be much easier to blend and match

    Antler repair works really well. Jonas carries it, not sure who else offers it. It's the correct base color.

    Epo grip's seam and repair putty works really well. The base color is spot on, and you can build your color from there.
