I'm not gonna stop using the word humane just because it's a word the anti's use.
You say "I absolutely agree poison is not the way to go." because you know as well as the rest of us do, it's not humane. So why bother bringing PETA into this?

Just take the live trap tie a rope around the handle and throw it in a pond and come back later.

So to make it clear I already said I wasn't going to use poison, and I'd invest in a .22 when I get the chance. And for the person above me, Isn't drowning almost just as bad as poisoning? -_- And IMO whatever way you kill an animal is not ever going to be humane. Humane is having compassion/sympathy/consideration for the animal, and killing it isn't exactly considerate. :p

But thanks everyone for the tips and advice.

Drowning is fast. It usually only takes 30 seconds or so.

  7. Poison is not the way to go because I don't have all day to feed a coon poison and let the poison take effect (he was talking about feeding it orally). Wack em and Reset. Is Acetone considered Poison?? Put some in a syringe and plow that into the lungs of small game and they die pretty freak-in quick, I'm all for that poison.

They tell me what trap's I need to use and they can kiss my ass if they think they're going to tell me how to "humanely" dispatch an animal. I don't dictate what's "humane" and what isn't because the anti's, PETA,AIHTS,HSUS and apparently YOU seem to dictate what is or isn't "humane". You say drowning is quick so you deem that as humane. You said a .22 is quicker than a blow to the head therefore is more "humane". "humane" is a personal opinion. Like I said before those organizations have done a great job in making that a common word amongst outdoorsmen/women. They're almost to the point that they want be at, which is take the "e" off the word and turn the ANIMALS into a "human".

Kellys Good Luck on your Line and Remember kill em quick...you have more traps to check...

I was a trapper LONG before I thought about doing taxidermy. I know how a syringe pole works. Yes it is poisoning, but the animal is dead in minutes if not seconds after being stuck. Feeding an animal poison (which is what this thread is about) takes MUCH longer.

I said it was humane? I guess I must of missed that. I said it was quick.
I never said a .22 is quicker than a blow to the head. I don't know what your reading, but I know what you "think" your reading is wrong.

Than poisoning (again, which is what this thread was about). Not once did I say it was quicker or more humane than a blow to the head.

  11. Yeah I'm done with this. I really don't care how he kills the coon.

I said drowning to give the kid some tips on a easy and simple way to kill a animal plus you don't have holes to worry about. Why waste a bullet on a animal when there is water around, I never said anything about humane.

How long will it take to drown a fish? :) At first I did not like to drown animals are birds. After doing it I found it went fast and no hole to fix. Noting against trapping but if that don't bother you any way you decide to kill it should be no deal. Just get it dead a.s.p. By the Way A Lil dawn in the water will drown a fish in seconds.

Lmao reminds me of a story when i was a kid and had my own pet fish in the tank. parents always fed it and let me put in the flakes, well one day the parents weren't there and i put in the liquid food this time (dawn) and not knowing no better i was excited i fed the fish unfortunately got beat when i got home cause the tank over flowed with bubbles and the fish where upside down. RIP goldy, lol

For me the word isn't "humane" but rather "respect". Just something to think about. Don't poison it, you'll waste all that meat!!

Outside of the 3 libtard stooges that have hijacked Current Events lately, this is the most ignorant retarded thread I have read on taxi.net since the clown who suggested killing his boxed trapped animals by carbon monoxide poisoning.

Why don't you all just make the racoon read this thread....he'll be dead in no time... :-\

Of course, that would be totally inhumane... ::)
