Justin the clay is a great way to come up with ideas for a mount like that. I looked yours over at the show and was very impressed. Fantastic job.

Wow. I can't believe I passed over these thinking I'd seen them. I think I was thinking of the ones in the deer head forum.

    Justin,

We've had our run-ins ... okay I run into walls just for the fun of it ... but I have to give you high marks for the creativity and execution of your Cougar/Mule Deer mount! Very well done! One of the finest examples of this kind of predator/prey pieces I have seen in a long time. Not only that, you did your homework on the details of these two creatures. I cannot tell if you used the Cougar's actual lips or not, but it is a job well done! Congratulations on the mount, and on your wins ... you earned them! ;)

Thanks John, that means a lot coming from you. I'll thank you for critiquing that last lion I posted too. The one that had the ear issues. I was listening when I mounted this one. Thanks ;-)

Rbear, absolutely those little clay models make a big difference. No matter how crude they are, LOL. When I do those models or illustrations it makes my clients nervous because I can't draw and don't have the patience to work on little clay models. But they get the job done and communicate the idea.
