Artwork in process

I'm a long time lurker, but only relatively new to posting. I had some artwork posted in another thread and apparently there are quite a few artist on this site and those that appreciate art. I thought maybe some of you would enjoy seeing one of my drawings in different stages of progress. Hope you enjoy the series of pictures.

Here it is near the beginning. I have lightly blocked everything in and now I'm slowly working my way from the left side of the drawing to the right putting in all the values and details. I am right-hand therefore I always start on the left side to avoid smudging the drawing with my hand as I work the fine details.


Here is the drawing a little more than half-way complete.


...and now the finished drawing with all the minor details and values (lights and darks) worked over.

 

kycooner, I teach art for a living. However after teaching all day I rarely get to work on my own stuff. Now and then I do get a few things done like the example shown here. It was a commission piece and the dog had died. One of the dog's owner's (the husband) commissioned me to do the drawing so he could surprise his wife. He later emailed me and said she cried when she saw it. He said they were tears of appreciation. So I must have done something right.

 

Monty, here ya go. Lest anyone think I'm only limited to drawing four legged animals. This is an old boy I ran across down in southern Utah. I thought he had an interesting face and he agreed to let me take photos and draw from them. I don't even know if the old boy is still alive or not. Sorry that the image clarity isn't the greatest, but it was the best I could do with my digital camera.

 

One more then I'm heading home for the day.
