I bought a Rick Carter A-Z at the Garden State show that we watched together and while she mounted it. I picked up a Ohio Taxidermy Supply form, earbutts, earliners and a nose. She used them with Meder IQ eyes. I had her do the eyes over and over until she got it. She picked this stuff up quicker then I ever did. We brought it to the Vermont show, where Lou Gagliano was the whitetail judge and she took a 3rd in the open class( there was not an amature or youth class and she didn't want it in the commercial class) . They are working on having a youth class next season.I didn't think to take pictures in process, they would have been nice to have .I think she is hooked now and I couldn't be more proud of her!

Hi Cathy, Mine didn't look like that either. We had a good time up there and look forward to next year. I'll let them know, they enjoyed talking with you. We are already planning for next seasons shows. See you this weekend.John

Christine just came in and she says hello, we had only left the table to get some air and had planned on coming back to the table but we got sidelined by folks at the door

Thanks guys, it was nice having her in the shop she keeps me more motivated as well. I hope she will stay with it, I told her she could mount anything ( within reason) that she wants to, she did a fish last year. I am curious to see what she will want to try next, I have a few bears of my own in the freezer, the 8pt she did is one of my black powder bucks from a few years back. At least she can keep them instead of giving them up to a customer.I could only imagine what she could do if I sign her up with someone who really knows what their doing. Maybe a Yoxathon in New England?

She'll be helping me in the shop, for a small fee of course. Thanks Doug on the bear, I really enjoyed mounting it and I am looking forward to doing some more of them.

She is pretty happy and wanting to go for that blue next year. All of the Ohio Taxidermy supply stuff made it pretty painless for her to do a nice deer.

  19. You can have the best supplies in the world, but you have to have a natural talent to put together a first deer that looks that good. Very nice work. Wish my 2 daughters would have took an interest to it also.
