Go for it! I'd also suggest settling down with a big cup of coffee and spend a couple hours staring at reference photos of foxes and mounts that other beginners did, try to pick out things that look wrong. For instance, ears are a bit to far back, nose is a little off, etc. Read what experienced members have posted on how to improve or fix faults in the mount.

That way, when you go to re-mount (or mount another) fox, you can look at it and say "My ears are to far back / my eyes are a little oddly shaped / the pose looks unnatural" so on and so forth. Helps you pick up your mistakes while mounting so that your better able to correct them
