Recently I posted a buck from 1958 (but, now find it was shot it 1947), with a layered paper form. It is now remounted.

Just found out that this old buck was shot in 1947 near Glidden Wisconsin by my clients great Grandfather.

Wow! Looks great! What happened to the ear and nose? Did a critter get it?

Is it a completely different hide? The throat patch looks different.

Yes, a dog had the original 1958 mount for lunch.
It is a completely new cape on a new form. Straight on to match (not to fond of the straight on forms) but, it was a good match mounted on the original wood plaque.

Damn fine job. I'm sure that customer was happy to have that beautiful buck restored.

I did a remount a few years ago that was done in 1929 that is when the grand son said he though his grandpa had it done . The grandson brought in another nice big buck with a smaller rack and I used His cape to put with his Grandpas Big rack . So that was pretty cool do for him . I tore the OLD mount apart and it was pretty crazy . LOL it had the original Skull in it yet with metal ear liners and a 2x6 stuck in the bottom of the skull and then a hand wrapped neck . I tore it apart out side with the wind to my back . I am sure it had all kinds of wonderful things in it from back then . it looked pretty close to this other old mount in the pics you posted here.
