    A friend told me that he was given an older soft tanned mule deer hide. He says some of the hair is slipping out. Can anything be done at this point?

    I wouldn't mess with it, you'll probably end up with something worse than it is now.

    I got one like that from a friend who wanted to try to save it , couldn't do anything for it. She said keep it,so I surprised her with a medicine bag using what was still ok.Hope it gives you an idea for another use for it
