cool pics! Jordan that storm widgeon is nice, I've never seen one. We had a good shoot Friday, 7 guys,7 limits, 49 ducks all spooners. Today[new years eve] the wind blew hard and a different direction we only got 25 ,but it was a a mixed bag of golden eyes,spooners,teal,redheads,and one can. i didn't get pics of all of 'em.

 

I finally took a couple hours off to go hunting, I need to do that more often.

Pintail drake I got Saturday morning. Nice drake, gonna be a competition piece.


Me and the Pup, 11mo, Ace on his first hunt. He did exceptionally well, picked up a triple retrieve, never broke and we had a great hunt.


4 guns ( I wasn't shooting for a few vollies to get Ace going) and we brought out 20, lost 2, mostly gadwalls, 2 pintail drakes, 1 hen and a few shovelers.

 

Awesome storm! I was going to put up some pictures of a great week in Texas but they all seem to be too big.

 

did you try to shoot nuthing but spoonys or was that the only thing flying? ive never seen that many spoonys. the guys i hunt with always give me crap for shootin spoonys but they eat the same. and them are some nice lookin drakes you got in the middle.

 

Ya that's all that was flyin' that day, there's thousands of em. it was a blast. ya spooners take a little more marinatin' and spices.

 

love looking at this thread - but have been a bit busy to edit my photo's down and upload them - but thought i'd do that tonight - got the opportunity to hunt adak in early december - amazing trip - not many dead duck pics - but we did end up with quite the pile of harlequins and aleutian teal - saw smew and loads of common eiders but way to stormy to get any access to them - either way a tremendous trip - saw an incredible amount of species on the trip - waterfowl, raptors, song birds, shore birds - really incredible place - here are a few photos - (the residence trap the rats and night and fling them into the streets for the waiting eagles - pretty incredible)

 

Here's a few from the last few days in Nevada. I finally got my swan on the 1st. I put a sneak on him and got within 10 yards. Kind of wish I had more distance. Nearly took his head off.

 

Had a great season in MT. Did well on the grouse. Got a few pheasants but most were taken while out grouse hunting. Spent most of my hunting chasing sharpies. Up to the last day, I was hunting birds in CRP like it was October. Its nice not being covered up with snow!









Split second short on the photo. Fritz was on a pretty strong point for this bird. and then I didnt kill it. I crippled it and it flew about 300 yards and landed. We circled around and picked it up again and was almost an identical point. I didnt miss that time...

 

JBird, great pics, I wish I could go there someday to see it for myself. I noticed those eagles in your pic seem to have chosen a very dangerous perch with all those electric wires. Didn't you find any roasted eagles at the base of those poles?

There actually wasn't that many wires/poles on the island - just isolated area's where there used to be people - they seem to get around them just fine - I didn't take this pic - my host did - but just standing in the yard letting the eagles take the rats - pretty cool

 

Wow Jbird. That looks way cold! Those little auleatians are kinda cute.

 

I thought that the white one was a little big for a snow goose while it was flying. Came in with a group of 5 canadians and didn't leave. I guess there is a farm around with one less goose.

 

Since I'm rather new, here are some hunting photos over the past few years. I hope to add a few more as I start my taxidermy hobby. Enjoy

 

Well Waldo, if your saved those birds in your freezer, you'll have plenty of practise material as a starting taxidermist. These are very atractive ducks, they'll be great for your trophy room. Good luck with them.
