    All,

I live in New Hampshire, USA. Is it legal for me to buy a taxidermied Carrion Crow from the UK?

  2. It's illegal for it to be shipped here without special permits.

    Rhasputin,

Thank you for your quick answer.

If it's illegal to be shipped here, and illegal to buy here... How does one get a taxidermy crow or raven in the USA?

As an addition... the "Carrion" Crow is not native to the USA at all... Does that make any difference to the law?

  5. No. Importing any animal products to the US without a permit is illegal.
Your only hope would be to get a crow from a state which legally allows the possession of the crow in a taxidermied form, and get lots of paperwork with it.

I know there is at least one state in which you are legally allowed to possess a dead crow which was killed durring an act of destruction of native plants or animals, and this includes it being legal to possess for taxidermy.

I am not 100% sure if you can transport the crow outside of the state it was taxidermied in, however.

Alternatively, you can find a breeder of non-native crow species, and hope that they have some dead ones once in a while. These would be legal to posses in any state.

  6. Oregon allows crow hunting; last season was from 10/1/11 to 1/31/12, no limit. Not sure about the legality of possessing them in other states but they can be legally taken here.

  8. We can hunt them here, but cannot possess them.

  10. It is, as been advised here, a probable maize of legislation to obtain the necessary permits. IF it was legal, and the clearance was there for both the export from here, the UK, and the importation to the US, of dried corvid skins instead of actual mounted birds. Then, if this alternative should be acceptable to you, and of course subject to legal requirements of our respective countries, I can certainly supply you for the cost of the postage and any duties incurred, carrion crow, magpie and jay. It needs to be checked out. But the killing of crows, with the exception of the raven, is legal in the UK for authorised persons to carry out.
