Little coon pedestal I did as practice for a life size I have in the freezer, lol. Just thought I would share. :)

Thank you! I had fun working on him. Next one will be a life size that I plan on putting on the wall. I'm running out of other places for them, lol.

George The older I get, the better I was.

Keyda that's really a nice job and a very soft looking mount. Yet you violated my "rule" about ears. Nostril, eyeball, center of the ears. Your coon ears are a bit too far apart. Move them together a bit and you'll be dead on.

Thank you George, I really value your opinion. Had I known about your rule I would have followed it, lol. The clay under the ears is still wet, so I moved them in some. I'll be sure to remember that when I do the life size one. :)

    Thank you linder!

I have a friend that has a has a raccoon as a pet, I want to mount one because I have a some real good reference to go by just a call away..with that said i look at the ears and eyes everytime I get a chance, their ears can go all over the place, depends on the mood and alertness, your mount looks like a good relaxed position, what I keep looking at is when she has real round eyes and the ears are pointed straight forward "alert", slanty eyes and the ears are relaxed or back aggressive, not like a deer and independent from each other, but they are even pretty much. I don't know but the nose looks to be pretty hard to do because of the deep split that is at the back of the nostrils, another thing is even when she is happy and in a good mood you can see the bottom part "tip" of the upper k-9 when the mouth is closed, I am going to try to add that to a mound somehow, but your mount looks awesome, I hope I can get mine that good when I attempt..GOOD JOB

I'm certainly no pro but it appears that the eyes are two different shapes as well .

I took a close look at the eyes a few minutes ago, and they seem to be the same shape to me. Maybe the flash on the camera, lol. I should have taken it outside for pictures, wasn't very nice out at the time though.

Thank you. I wish I knew someone with a coon as a pet! I need to get a lot more reference. You think you have enough, but it's never enough, lol. Get some pictures from every angle you can think of!

  10. As a fellow beginner, I really like your mount. George said earlier that it had a nice soft look and I agree. Got two in freezer for later this summer, was planning a shoulder mount and a full. Good luck with your full mount.

Beautiful raccoon! I'm about to work on a LS myself. Ive already skinned, fleshed, prepped, and tanned the hide. Just waiting on the form. They are such cute buggers it almost makes up for how mischeivious and destructive they can be...almost...
:) I hope mine can look as good as yours!

Thank you. They are cute, until they show their teeth, lol. I'm hoping to at least get the life size one fleshed and in the pickle in the next few days. Things never seem to work out as planned for me though, lol.

Nice coon mount! like to see your full body when you finish! :)

  14. Nice looking coon, I wouldn't comment (since I'm a beginner) but if George said it's good too then my opinion is right ;)
I love the bases you do, they're so fresh and nice to look at.

Thanks! I'll be sure to post pics of the life size when I get it done.

Thank you Grihm. I like to add a bit of color to them. I love going to the hobby store and picking out habitat stuff. :)
