  1. I just skinned a skunk pelt and was wounding how to get rid of the smell with out damaging the hide.

  2. I just experienced this first hand a couple of months ago. Mix one bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide, a couple of ounces of Baking Soda, and a little Dawn detergent and place the skunk in it. Make sure you do this outside, because it will foam up!!! I left mine in for about twenty minutes and it took about 90% of the odor out so I could skin it. After skinning the skunk I put mine in a second bath just like the first and it took out the rest of the odor. Don't screw up like I did, when I was trying to pull the tail out, my hand
slipped and mashed both gland flat and all that mess hit me in my chest!!! I had to throw away all my clothes, my work table, shave my go-tee and the business next door had to shut down for a few days; not good!!! Hope this helps, Scott.

Thanks for the tip... I'll give it a try.

  4. No problem! I just remembered, you will probably need to double the solution depending on how large your skunk is so you can cover the whole animal.
