I am working on my first life size coyote. It was tanned in krowtann. I got the head and neck mounted today and need to know how long it is safe to leave it sit before finishing the rest of the body?

    Thanks

depending on how long the yote has been handled after the tan will make a difference I use krowtan also and have run into issues with having to handle the specimen for an extended amount of time anything beyond 48 hours this includes time in the refrigerator hair could start to slip hope this helps

ShastaDonegan Lets start with ridiculous and move backwards.

Personally I would have mounted the body first and then once the body was in place only then would I start on the clay work of the face...you may run into trouble and have some shifting happen in the face now.

If you wrap it in a plastic bag and keep it cool you should be OK for a day or so, but it will dry out on you and become difficult to work with if you don't get on it pretty quick. A light misting of Stop Rot will help keep it from slipping on you and will also help keep it moist.

So you can use Stop Rot on a tanned skin?
