Easier skinning????????

It is new, it's been around for awhile. I saw a demo on it and wasn't impressed.

 

You don't fill the carcase with the air, you inflate under the skin only. This actually is an ancient practice. Sheep and goats have been skinned this way in middle eastern countries for probably thousands of years. No compressors but human lungs will inflate a sheep easier than you would believe. I sell sheep to Turkish Musslims who slaughter in traditional style. They inflate the animal by mouth and claim the skin comes of much cleaner and the membrane is easier to remove. For my part--it doesn't seem all that different. Aaron H.

 

I have never tried this, but I have a cousin that witnessed it first hand. Air is shot under the hide, blows the hide away from the meat, when you skin it will just fall away. I personally don't have any problems using a sharp shinning knife since I have more experience with it.

 

Slaughter houses use the same method to quickly remove cow hides.

 

Sorry michael p all the slaughter houses I worked in used a rolling drum and an electric charge.

 

my grandfather has been doing that for years...YES it works. he uses a hyperdermic needle that he has coupled down to fit a air nozzle. he just puts the needle under the skin and shoots the air. when he starts cutting...the skin basically falls off. It does work.

 

Well excuse me woodduck, but the one in Dime Box, Texas used air. Maybe they're a litte behind in the times.

 

The ones in Dover Delaware use a hoist and a floor hook. Guess you use what you got.

 

i have also seen it done with a golf ball and a truck winch. personally i just use the ole skinning knife...and some budlight of course.

yes any compressor will do with 70 lbs or better air psi. I made my grandfathers needle. I tool the biggest needle i could find, And brazed the back of the needle to the air coupling. Works like a charm.
