Just curious if any of you guy's/gal's try to repair the brisket rub's on deer. Being that i just flesh cape's , it seem's almost that every deer that i flesh anymore has the point of brisket rubbed off.

Damn. Thought you were gonna talk BBQ! I just deal with the deers brisket as is, not worth the money (time) to do any different on a commercial mount.

Me too! I was going to give away my secret recipe! Not really. Each one is a case by case depending on how severe it is. Most times I can talk someone into a simple wall habitat for $50. Looks better, less work, more money. Triple win.

Like stated, it really depends on the severity of the damage. Most guys want to see the character, but if it's really bad, a small scene usually does the trick and they end up with a custom mount. Just be sure to charge for you time.

I airbrush them. Seems like that gray really stands out on the front of them if they are too bad. Had a bunch of them that were really rubbed this year

  7. It's terrible this year here in Western PA. I think every cape that I took in had some brisket rub damage. Minwax aged oak stain on a rag helps to blend that gray colored hair and it's easier to get. Give it a try, I think you will be suprised with the results.
