Best Whitetail Mounts of all Time

Discussion in 'Deer and Gameheads' started by Vince Spellane, Feb 14, 2013.

  1. Working on my competition piece and needed some inspiration. I was wondering if anyone had a list of all the past whitetail world champions and/or how many times they won. Also if there were pictures of these mounts out there somewhere, or if anyone would like to post any pics of their all time favorite whitetail mounts. Most of the guys that are the legends of the industry re whitetails, i have never got to see their work. I have a couple of the past winners pics that I will post when I get a min. It would be nice to have it all together in one post to look at and compare.

I think Meders gasping whitetail is one of the best, I have never seen pics of the deer Joe Coombs won with but would love to.

I hope someone has a picture of Gene Smith's 'snort-wheeze' deer to post! I am also fond of Vincent Fleming's current World Champion deer, as well as Ed Piaskowski's 09' world deer!

  4. Someone posted a Yox mount of 2 deer fighting, that thing looked killer.

The post is about world show grand champion whitetail winners, not about some wanna be guys. ;D

    ;) ;) ;) j/k Bill

  9. Yox had a buck with hanging velvet thats still on of my favorites. I think it was an NTA best of category. That and my uncles NTA deer are my top two.

Not world show i know but still sweet!

If someone gets a pic of meders i would love to see it!

Best of Category, Whitetail Deer Head
JOHN T. GRIFFITH JR., Waldorf, MD
    Whitetail Deer

Whatever the proper name was for the award, its quite and achievement and a great mount. I believe it can be viewed on his website.

2011 Vincent Fleming (in the photos the mounts of the 2nd and 3rd place winners were inadvertently reversed – it should be Keith Bowman 2nd with the deer on the bottom right and Mark Gonnering 3rd with the deer in the upper right) http://02d6fca.netsolhost.com/issues/2011/Summer/gallery/gallery01.htm

  20. Lol Andy, i dont care what bill thinks about me. But that mount still has inspired me to do something with hanging velvet in the future and i decided that back when i was 13. I have the drawing but not the talent or the rack yet.

I prefer mounts like Genes Dons and Eds, to the others. Not because there action poses, but its more like a picture when you looking at the whole piece.
