What could this jawbone be from?

Boar/pig front part of jaw.

 

Looks kinda bigfootish to me. LOL! Wait, I got it, it's from a "Bigtooth" . You got proof that bigtooths do exsist. Now we can start a thread and talk for days about bigtooth. Come to think of it, I saw a bigtooth while out hunting.

A dog would have the same tooth pattern as a coyote. Same for wolf, fox, etc

 

This reminds me of a few years back. My son and I were deer hunting. We were in a farmming area, and had seen some signs of a big deer. It was getting late, sun was going down, he said he heard something comming out, sitting in his stand, trying to turn a little so he could get a shot at the deer he heard comming out behind him. He could tell it was 4 legged creature, sounded heavy enough to be a deer, not a squirrel, waiting, ready, looking hopeing to see big horns. Finally, a glimps of white, out it came, a 350 lb. hog, aparently had gotten out of the farmers pen. I told him later in the truck, you should'a shot it, we'd had some meat. LOL!

 

I see what could be a knife mark on the inside. Hog jaws are normally solid across the front in an adult. Might be hard to tell but examine that center *break* and see if it looks like it could have been cut with a saw. Many times hanging hog carcasses are sliced in half straight through the head. Possibly someone tossed out bones from a butchered hog and something ran off with some to chew on.

 

Yup, seawolf's right! All the butcher shops that I know of in Wisconsin (except maybe one) cut the pig's in half from the butt to the snout. They'll then sell the pig heads for around $8-$10 a half. People will cook up the heads to eat & toss the rest in the garbage. Quite possible that's what happened & a coon or some other critters got the bones out of the trash and picked it clean. Just a guess though....may never know!!
