Those are very precious moments with your dad. Nowadays a lot of boys don't have a dad, and no mom can be a dad to a boy. I was blessed to have a dad who took me fishing a lot starting when I was old enough to hold a pole and continuing for almost 50 years. I miss him every time I look at the empty boat seat.
Congrats on the crappies!! I always associated Florida with big bass, but you obviously have some giant crappies down there. Thanks for posting the photos.

Nice fish everyone! Dennis, I really liked hearing about you fishing with your dad. Cherrish every moment with him, mine is too ill to do it anymore and all I have is the memories of those great times together.

  11. I do hold every moment with him inside Monty. I have several friends that have fathers that are limited to what they can do now. I try not to think on it much...is hard not to...he is strong thankfully. Hell I still run from him when needed. ;) I wish for your dad to get strong again so you can get some time out with him.

This fish is really special, i caught it off the river walk in chicago between the state street and dearborn bridge, I was in Chicago to attend my Aunt's funeral, she is the one who taught me how to fish and made me love it. she died suddenly and was under the age of 60 so i had a good long time to think about how to honor her. One thing i decided was i was going to buy a fishing license and see if i could coax a bass out of the Chicago River. NO bass were biting but this Carp hit the bait some local guys gave me and it was on!

He's going to be my first attempt at a replica, 33 inches long and probably my favorite fish i've ever caught.

This is the first bass i caught this season, and the biggest. I met with some of my former students to go fishing, the bluegill are out and some are nested but none were taking my jig. I saw a dark shadow cruising towards us so grabbed my bait caster and pitched my spinner bait out and in front of this fish. reeled it in and then gave the spinner bait a little extra action right in front of her. She slammed the skirt and would have gotten off had the trailing hook not been on. Biggest bass i've ever caught out of this pond. we didn't have tape or a scale, any guesses on what this one weighed?

LOL.. I think that guy is standing a little behind that fish OR I may have to rethink swimming in the ocean.
