New African Collection from HQ, Special Introductory Pricing!!

Our African pieces are actually sculpted by Cliff Hales who has been employed at Head Quarters since November 2012. The choice of species, sizes and positions are a collaboration between Rick Morgan and Cliff. Our start up neck sizes actually come from the more popular sizes of African capes that pass through Carolina Fur Dressing on a weekly basis. All forms are actually sculpted over skulls and jaw bones and because of the readily availability of freshly wet tanned capes at Carolina Fur Dressing, we actually hand pick and test fit several capes to each piece throughout the sculpting of each particular animal. Special attention was placed on brisket placement and hair patterns around the brisket and chest area. Due to the experience that Rick and Cliff had in the taxidermy field, our current series of shoulder mounts have the heads tilted slightly downward due to client’s request to “look the animals in the face and not look up at the bottom of their jaw line”. Also every manikin has a distinct sculpted - in ear canal opening that coincides exactly to the ear opening in the skull beneath the clay. This is our first offering of the more popular sizes and poses. Throughout 2014 we will be making available more sizes, species and pedestal manikins. With customer permission, we have actually custom sculpted some of these pieces to an order that came in to Carolina Fur Dressing directly from Africa using the clients actual skulls and capes.
