Well, "The Ol' Man " has out did himself again !!
The Ohio Taxidermists Association is very blessed once again to have the very talented hands of Ohio's own Cary Cochran sculpt and cast the Medallions for the winners of our Masters Division !! I know Cary knows but I don't think he knows how much we are thankful for him doing these again this year ! I have had the pleasure every year to see these before the show and to take pictures of them to show on here and every year I just shake my head. Oh what I would give for just some of his talent to just some how magically transfer into my hands ! LOL
These are the medallions for each of the six categories in the Masters Division. And these are very sought after awards to win ! If you have never been to our Ohio Show to attempt to win one of these prestigious, hand sculpted awards, we invite you to come compete.
Now, these Medallions still need some small finishing touches before they are "cleared" by Cary for us to use. But this was going to be the only day I could pictures of them to share on here. But I wanted to share a sneak peek for all the competitors to see and hopefully attract some others.
And from what we are hearing from people, this show is going to be great !!!!!!!!

I forgot to mention for those who might not know about these medallions. These are what are award to our State Champions in each of the Masters Division categories. I hope that explains it a little better.
The only thing left to say is, for those who feel qualified to win one of these, bring your best !! LOL
There are a few taxidermy.net members who have won one of these, hopefully they will post their thoughts on winning one of these medallions.

  3. It is a great honor when you have earned the right to have one in your hands. Not only because of what the medallion represents but who created it. I think I Speak for those who have won one of these when I say we all hold Cary in the highest regards. Our show would not be the same without him!

I want to echo Casey's statements. Out of all the things I've been lucky to win, none are more special than my Carey Cochran Medallions. They are amazing. The "man" is truly one of a kind.

Casey and Brian, you guys are true gentlemen. We don't have the medallions that Carey hand makes for you guys but that is what make them so special to you guys. I do however feel very lucky to have Carey at our show in Indiana. He is a very special person to all of us for sure, what an asset to this industry. I also feel very fortunate to have guys like the two of you attend our show and call you guys friends. Brian Banbury you are a stand up dude and am really appreciative of what you have done for me with my bird work. I also am grateful to have you as a member of our Association. I truly wish you guys the best at your upcoming show and good luck to all who compete this year.

    Brad.

Awesome. Our show is switching over to hand sculpted medalions as well for next year.

I will also say how great the medallions are. I was fortunate enough to attend the OTA show a couple years back and received the lifesize medallion. It is one of my favorite awards!

The medallions area very cool and unique award. It's classy and doesn't eat up much wall space for display. Cary did an outstanding job!
