Weird Drake

    For the longest time I thought this drake was black and white but when I looked at him in the sun he has a green head and blue on his wings. Is he some sort of mallard cross? He's domesticated, just figured you bird guys might be able to point me to what he was. We hatched him out from some eggs a while ago but can't remember what the breeds were supposed to be. We have buffs, call ducks and runners on our property too if that helps. Thank you for your help!

    He looks like a Magpie Duck to me. Maybe not show quality, but still recognizable.
    Google them and see what you think.

    Oh, he does kind of look like that! I wish he had more of the saddle pattern that they have. Though the magpies look to be more black and white? He could be a cross I guess.

    Yes, if you cross a mallard (Rouin), grey call colored duck with a pure white duck, you will get many birds of this color, he does seem to have some runner duck in his stance,

    Thank you both! Mystery solved. He would be legal to mount because he;s domesticated correct? I would love to have him mounted at some point.
