Ok, I guess I gotta do this. The NTA has me scheduled for a hands on seminar Thursday, and in their infinite wisdom, to date, has no post in here announcing it, and if you go to their site...well never mind. Heres the scoop as I know it...I read it was a two part morning and afternoon schedule, but I thought it was just the afternoon, but again...What I know I am doing is having up to 25 interested people pay the NTA I THINK $25 or $50 (Im worth both...really!) to hang out with me, and we all set eyes, set ears, and sculpt both lids and butts for them. I believe we will have all the material, courtesy of McKenzie and the NTA. So far Randy Jordan has been really helpful getting things going, although I know its tough for him, with what help he must be getting at his end. Thanks Randy!

So, all I can say at this time, a mere 13 days from the seminar, is that youll be getting a change out head mounted to a small base for support, to which we will practice eyes and ears, which will be supplied by us. YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN...reference pics, small light, modelling tool(s) and I would suggest bring some oil clay too. I will have wet potters clay, which we can use up, redo, waste a bit etc, but the oil base will be nice to wrap up with as it doesnt dry.

I think Ill have all the heads, ears and eyes, plus clay. Ill do one of each on a head to instruct, then Ill hop around like a madman for the rest of the time helping you all out.

Itll be fun, informative, and pretty cheap compared to a class or Yoxathon type class with me. Now then...does ANYONE know what airport Ill need to fly into? No, its not in the NTA info...

Ok, what I DO know is, a few folks are doing a LOT of the work on this years NTA show, as much as it aggravates me that I gotta advertise my own seminar. I believe if I had to guess that a lot of folks were in a holding pattern of sorts, and now theyre having to hustle to move forward for all. The modest price towards this seminar will likely help them with expenses this year and to secure more for next years convention. Hopefully many of you will join me in the seminar, and we can all see one another at the convention in some form or capacity. I also know that McKenzie Supply is very willing to help us out on this, to which Im thankful.

    I try, haha...organized chaos.

  5. Bill, I know you're worth more than the price of admission just by your reputation and advice given throughout the years. What I did not know is that even if you're a member of the NTA you have to pay an additional fee to attend a seminar being held at a NTA event. I'm glad my State association doesn't do that. Is this a regular practice? Once again, no disrespect of any kind but you'd think the NTA could cover your costs of putting on the seminar.

Your seminar alone is worth the price of admission!

John, its a way for them to add a bit of money to the coffers, not covering costs, etc. Established state shows typically no longer need to do that, of course. Try to see it as a small part of their rebuilding effort. I do appreciate your kind words. And...thanks Rick, I appreciate that!

  8. Thanks!

  9. I personally think that a person of you're skill level should be charging more to offset traveling cost etc. I also understand it's like a no win situation for you Bill but you are a good man!

Thanks guys, yes this is just a group clay mess. Itll be fun and informative, but not a high end competition class with all the bells and whistles. just good anatomy. All for the NTA cause.

Ok Bill, I have to give you crap on one part. Why is it the NTA 's responsibility to find you an airport. I'm sure with that Lil device in your pocket called a phone you can Google the nearest airport to the show and make arrangements. LoL

  13. Airport closest is XNA. Yes thats the airport code

Hammer, i hear ya, of course i can probably do that as well as make all my own arrangements and even order up my own meal choice too. I just wish this were a bit organized. Even state level shows have directions to their event and reference to airports and hotels.

  15. Bill, you're too funny. Reading your first post in this thread, it's great to see someone match my own skills at very kindly, nicely and tactfully shooting an arrow at somebody...

Having just come from a Yoxathon, I wish I could go to this too because there was so much to take in at the Yoxathon it would be nice to reinforce some of it before some of it leaves me.
