I recently found a great buck skull for my area (mid 140's) it pretty weathered skull broke into and antlers sun bleached with small cracks but no chews or nothing major. I've been debating one what I want to do with it
1.) stain the antlers and put on replica skull
2.) stain antlers and get a cape and shoulder mount
3.) just leave it as is
    What do y'all think?

FIRST thing is contact DNR about legally keeping found antlers ,,just to save you some hassles down the road, here in Ohio you must have a permit to keep found [on the skull or roadkill whole skulls of deer] in other words a tag.I know of a man down the road who had several whole skulls with antlers confiscated, he was allowed to keep all dropped antlers he had found ,but there was no way of proving that the whole head finds weren't poached no matter the condition.

It all depends on whether you are planning to keep it or sell it at maxim profiet for your business. For sure, shoulder mounting it would yield the best profit, which is what I would do if I found such antlers. If I were going to keep them, I would just toss them into my pile of sheds.

I think I will do a shoulder mount and use it for a display, thanks for the input.

Or have artificial velvet put on it and do a shoulder mount.

Great point Alan. I had a shop in NW Ohio had the warden stop in on a routine check. That spring I picked up a Dinky 6 point that died over the winter in a wet spot. Just had it sitting on a shelf. He asked me where the tag was? I told him the story and he told me how much trouble that could lead to. Lucky for me he said it really wasn't a trophy class buck and he gave me the chance to put it back where i found it. With a buck that big. Yours would have been a whole different story.
