Thanks Hunted Trophies for the link. I have struggled with simmeriing my skulls and getting a quality skull. I have the flaking and the loose nose bones mentioned in the video. That video gave me some great tips and I appreciate it. Know I just need to find a boiling pot like that. I had already decided to just macerate so I would not damage another skull. Definitely will try again.

Thanks guys I'm glad it helped. There are also two other boiling videos on that site if you look they are boiling a bear skull and a longhorn bull they might be worth watching as everytime I do something it is impossible to remember to share all the little tricks I've learned in 32 yrs so each video might review a new trick or two.

You can clean the skull all the way before you put in water, only takes 15 minutes to cut away meat, eyes and socket and pull out brains. Also consider degreasing after its cleaned, even with beetles or maceration, don't see that on video. But a good starter how to.

 

The washing soda helps to remove the grease as I don,t have grease problems using this method, Did 142 Deer skulls the months of November and December no grease problems

 

I am going to be trying a couple small racked deer skulls shortly and I really appreciate you sharing your procedure.

 

That include bears? No degrease step other than the sal soda?

 

If you real want to get the grease out put 1 cup of dawn detergent per 5 gal water when simmering, After that they go in peroxide for 12 hrs and come out very white

 

No the bears will need to be degreased. I've used dawn to degrease them,
