ALPHA NOSE

I've been wanting to use one of these as well I'm interested to see what info you get from the people on here

 

Haven't used one of the OT's but have used the new HQ replacement noses. They are basicly the same. All you do is glue the insert in place, smooth transitions with epoxy or clay, & mount. When dry finish as usual. The color of the insert cuts down on the interior nose finishing.

 

I am new to OTS and alpha nose... have done 4 now.

Just glue in and blend seams with epoxy. Looks good and saves lots of time carving nostrils.

 

One positive I've noticed with the alpha nose is the time saving aspect of not having to carve nostril detail or using a replacement nose. Replacement noses are easy to use, yet the alpha nose gives you a full-foam lip line to tuck into instead of having half foam/half hard plastic when using a replacement nose. It also helps that OTS is at the top of the game with their forms in my opinion so it makes it a no brainier. Try one out and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

 

Use them every chance we have, when size and pose allows us. A lot of times. we use a change out head on others forms and use one with the alpha nose. We like em a lot

 

Not to sound like a broken record- but tried them, like them, easy installation with little finish work and smooth lip line with all foam. Again on the dittos- wish they had more sizes!

 

Its lot easier to buy Alpha series option for $6.00 from OTS. Cut a trench then bondo /install the plastic part.

Are you usieing a gel super glue or hide paste?

Glue the insert in with 5 minute epoxy. Use hide paste as usual on nostril skin.

 

If you happen to have Rick Carter's whitetail DVD, he shows the process of doing a changeout nose in detail.

I simply put a small amount of Bondo in the back part and maybe a little along the edges when I am using Bondo to set my antlers. It takes very little and I already have the Bondo mixed up anyways.
