When using the neck foam material, do you need to do any kind of wrapping or is the foam all you need? Trying to get an understanding of what to do, as I'm getting ready to attempt my first mount. Thank you

Foam is all. Unless you want/need to add to it. Let us know how it turns out!

Make your neck out of two pieces of foam so it will be like that of a live bird. I use 1/4 or 3/8" material under the main neck to replicated the windpipe. I attach it by wrapping electrical tape around both pieces front, rear, and mid-neck.

Do you have any books or DVDs on what you want to mount?

Ok cool, thank you. Yes I will post pics when I finally get it done. Tanglewood taxidermy yes I started getting some books and plan on getting a DVD to try and help myself. I purchased a kit that came with 2 pieces of neck foam and figured that was all you needed but wanted to see what others advice would be

Well, you are on the right track. Your first mount will not be perfect, however, the more time you put into the PRE mount, as in study anatomy and proper procedures, it should turn out pretty decent. Good luck.

I used to use the neck foam. I used to hot glue the smaller windpipe foam to the larger one. Then I used the artificial necks you can buy and I think they suck. Now I wrap my own with 14-16 gage wire and different sizes of macrame. You can get the proper fit that way and IMO they look better.
