So I got my first velvet to do. I'm thinking sending off will be best. Do you guys charge more for a velvet mount and how much if so.
    Thanks

  2. Charge more for preserving/freeze drying the velvet (plus shipping if you send it out), otherwise the mount costs the same. I believe the last one I sent out was $150 for the freeze drying + about $50 for shipping there and back.

That's what I meant for the freeze drying so thank you! $9 an inch sound good for having it done?

  4. I guess that depends on how those inches are calculated - if that's how many inches of space the rack takes up in the freeze drier (i.e. 17' wide rack x $9.00 an inch = $153.00), then yes, that's a pretty good rate. Like I said the last one I had freeze dried cost about $150.00 and that one scored roughly 145-150" gross.

Yes that's exactly what I was told. The widest part of the rack. Any recommendations on who to use?

You can call Brett at boondocks taxidermy... he shouldn't be too far from you..

  7. I use AEWS in Slater, MO... you can find their info in the suppliers section.

It depends on how far along the antlers are . If They are hard underneath I use antler tan and let them dry. If they are bulbus and fleshy I use a freeze dryer
