$425.00 + base, if desired. Less than $200 is nuts. If I am mounting a tree rat, I am going to make money.

Thats true george. My first one got 3rd place, that was with out reference or anything, i just got a bunch of reference learned from the judge what i did wrong, and I'm gonna use my next 5 squirrels perfecting them. I want to be the best at everything i do, so i choose something i start doing it and do it till I am the best i can possibly be at it, and now it squirrels lol

Good for you JerseyJays, I might as well raise my prices to match yours, very few want to pay what I charge anyway.

Well I'm shocked. I don't relish squirrels but I suppose if I didn't ever want to do them I'd charge $600 as well. You can charge anything you'd like for anything, but whether or not somone's willing to pay it is a different story.

Years back, one of the more wealthy people in the area called me and asked if I mounted squirrels. I said that I did and gave him the price. He came right over. He carried two bags with him AND two squirrels. He said that he and his grandson had gone out that morning and his grandson had killed his first squirrels. He had a pose and told me that he wanted them together so they'd set on the piano in his great room. Then he set the other two bags up on the counter. I opened it and I saw that it was a caped out whitetail with the antlers already treated. The other bag was the same. I know he saw the look on my face and he said, " I've used (the guy across town) for 30 years. I asked him if he'd do the squirrels and he refused. I went over and picked up the two deer I'd left with him and told him that if he couldn't mount squirrels for me, he couldn't mount deer heads either." Nothing wrong with asking a fair price for honest work, but PERSONALLY, I think $600 is embarassing.

I'm thinking 250 seems fair. most people up here are cheap so thats probably still to much. I had one guy i did a pheasant for for 100 bucks he called me back up like a month after and said "i have another pheasant if you do it for me for 30 bucks i promise to send lots of work your way from friends" i hung up the phone with out saying a word lol

  17. I mount 2 a year at $25,000. Then I go on vacation the rest of the year. :D

Really I charge $250. Almost always they are for kids. I like doing them.

I got more hours in a squirrel than a deer head, materials are a little cheaper but in comparison they should be roughly the same price in my opinion. I charge a tad more because I don't like doing them. I've mounted maybe 1 every year or 2 at that price...
Here I'm new jersey everything is pricey, high priced taxes, high priced car ins, high priced homes, high priced taxidermy because the taxidermist needs to make a living.

Sorry... but that's what life dealt me, and I don't want to move ;)
