Cheri, quail are rather hard to do but yours look great. Good workmanship and composition, Paul.

 

My Redhead isn't anything like Cheri's, but here it is! Sweet cranes Jay! I'm glad I haven't had to deal with those big lanky things...yet!

 

Thanks.... I like hunting Cranes. I try to get out every year, and I take any client that can get a tag. I have several of my own in the freezer .... some day I may get one mounted.

I have had this bird in my shop for a while. It is a remount .. Near as I can tell it was probably 25 years old and I have no idea where it was harvested . It came from the estate of a wildlife artist here in Idaho that pass away this spring. I purchased it from them with the idea of a comp piece , after soaking it up and wheeling it a few times I got most of it loosened up. Unfortunately the skin still had a memory and the wings were far from re-hydrated . I was fun and a good learning experience. Now to see if I can get some of the expense back out of it.....







And the mount before I put it in the sink.....
