    IT’S TIME!!!!
The first ten to fifteen people who contact me will be entered for the PRO-1 Performance Chemicals Commercial Mount off Competition at this year’s WVTA convention, free to enter, I will need your name and what you plan on mounting, if you call and it’s busy, a message will count you as entered (304) 834-2024.

The competition is you have three hours to mount a commercial Mammal, Bird, deer or Game Head and then half an hour the next day for final adjustments before it is judged. Our judges will judge them the same as they do for a commercial mount in competition, so keep in mind you’re not mounting something for the masters division but you still want to win.

The top three mounts will win money and a plaque. Here is a chance to get a customer’s piece done and maybe win some extra money doing it. Even as spectators this should be a lot of fun to watch ten or more different taxidermist methods of putting together a commercial mount.

It will start at 7pm Friday the 13th and final adjustments Saturday the 14th at 8:30am.

PRO-1 Performance Chemicals Commercial Mount off Rules
All material used must be bought from a commercial supplier. Skin and form can be prepped and ready but all material must be separate and nothing pre-installed. Forms cannot be altered from the supplier. Any alterations must be made during allotted time of the competition. You must have all supplies needed for your mount; WVTA will not provide any supplies other than the time and space for the competition. If a form comes from a commercial supplier with pre-installed items it will be permitted. No custom made jaw sets or such will be permitted. You will have three hours to complete your piece at which time you will not be allowed to touch until the following day for half an hour for final adjustments. The four judges will determine which three pieces they feel in their opinions are the top three. It will be judged using the same rules and criteria as a commercial entry into competition. Habitats will not be counted for any part of this competition. All rules and determination of entries and material will be at the WVTA leadership and judge’s discretion.

There are still plenty of spaces still open for the PRO-1 Performance Chemicals Commercial Mount off competition. Just a reminder that it’s a commercial piece with all commercial supplies. The easiest way to answer a few questions that have come up is if any item used comes in to question, if you can show us the item in a supply company’s catalog then your good. As of right now if you enter your odds of winning some money and a plaque are good. If interested call or text me your name and what you plan on entering (304) 834-2024.

Just to clear up a few questions I’ve gotten for the mount off competition. You will need everything, including mount stands, compressor for paint (if you feel you have time) and I would suggest brining an extension cord to do your mount. The best way to look at it is if a question comes up and you can show us where it was bought from a commercial supplier your good. Nothing can be pre-installed. You can have form ready as in roughed up, lip slot pre-cut and such but ear liners and eyes cannot be installed yet. If you plan to use any type of change-out heads or alter the form from the way it came from the supplier, then it has to be done in the allotted time. As for ducks or birds, the feet can already be injected (due to set-up time) but not painted. As for the head, unless it comes pre-painted from a commercial supplier you will have to paint it. The judges will be judging it the same as a commercial piece and will be told to understand that no major finish work has been done yet ( you will have a half hour the following day for last minute adjustments or work you want to do). REMEMBER this contest is to make it fair for any skill level to enter. I know there a few big dogs in the contest but remember there are a few who are not and they want to have fun and learn also.

The PRO-1 Mount off is full. It should be a lot of fun to watch 10 different taxidermists have three hours to mount a commercial piece. There will be a bobcat, a boar and several deer to watch all the different ways people do their mounts.
