Paint schedule for whitetail eyes

White, flesh, bright flesh, dark brown and black.

 

Same as TT without bright flesh. I also use a lighter brown on early season deer. I clean paint off hair after each color is applied.

 

Im an oil paints guy. White titanium followed with burnt umber.

 

Dusty pink, coco brown, dark brown, and blending brown.

 

polytranspar water based for me. bass belly white, flesh, mars red, burnt umber, chocolate brown, blending brown

 

I don't use black anywhere on the deer...... sorry.

 

For some reason I replied to this thread with mule deer in mind. They usually are darker around the eyes from my experience. The black goes along the eye glass to skin union and as a darkener on the skin around of the eye.. It is very thinned out and goes on as a nearly transparent wash. I use it to create the gray on the nose pad.

 

White, flesh, various browns from light to dark (depending on how light or dark the deer is).

I wonder what color some are using for the nictitating membrane? Inquiring minds would like to know, well at least mine.

 

I don't paint my nictitating membranes so still no black for me. Just cause I don't use black doesn't mean I'm right, I just don't use black on my deer. I do use some very dark umber tones though. Again just my opinion.

 

Blending brown for the nic for me

 

I'll use some black on the nictitating membrane. Otherwise dark brown usually gets things dark enough for me.

 

My correction..... I use black when needed on the nictitating membrane. I used to use it on the nose pad but not anymore.... Thanks Bill...LOL
