George The older I get, the better I was.

Today, I was in the basement when I heard the doorbell ring. When I went up, expecting someone with a deer, I found the smiling faces of Tom and Gale McNeal at my back door. We had a great visit and a poor lunch together before they had to head out for New York. Sure was good to see OLD friends from long ago.

You were visited by two of the finest, IMO. Tom McNeal was the very first person I ever met when I first walked thru the doors of a taxidermy competition in Illinois back in 1984, as he and Gail were working the registration table. I was as green as green could get. Tom was inquisitive about who I was and how I got to coming to an ITA event. Soon into our "getting to know" each other, we discovered that we both flew and Tom was an air traffic controller. It was on from that point on and we've been friends ever since. I think the world of them both. Super fine people.

Here's hoping that everyone's Thanksgiving holiday was as enjoyable as ours. Gail and I have been on the road, and essentially off the grid, for a full week visiting family and friends on the East Coast. We're back home now and hard at it with lots to do.

George, our short visit and lunch with you in Magnolia couldn't have been more enjoyable! It was so good to see another side of you, there in your own digs, that's not always been apparent to us here on taxinet or amidst all the action at so many past taxidermy conventions. Thank you for your warm welcome and the hospitality you showed to Gail and me.

Brooke, you and Randy are just too doggone nice! Gail and I appreciate your kind words and you can count on us knocking on your door the next time we're anywhere near Shreveport.

And Tim, has it really been that long you old dog? "Tempest Fugit", as they say! Do you remember the day when you looked around and finally realized you had joined the ranks of the old timers? It's really not too bad once you get used to the idea; besides, we don't have much choice in the matter!
