I might be able to return to work in the fall!!

I have had 3 surgeries, and after 1 more, and the time to heal, and pending Doctors agreement it's gonna happen! I can't hardly wait! I have missed my job so bad, it's hard to put it into words. The feelings of being worthless are overbearing. It's been almost 4 years since I shaved a skin, or tanned anything.

Anyway, I sure hope it happens "my way" for once! Can't wait! Wonder if that arrogant a-hole will be back too? Nope.

Worthless? You have taught me and I'm sure others plenty, while feeling worthless and I for one am grateful. Aubrey, I wish you nothing but the best with your pending medical procedures and hope for a speedy and acceptable recovery, but please don't forget to keep educating folks like myself, when you get back to the actual handling of skins.

  4. Oldshaver, I rarely reply or post but was compelled by your statement. Three years ago I was on the fence about trying to do my own tanning. After reading countless post written here and the responses/ tips provided by you and others, I took the leap. I now tan all my clients work, except sheep, and will continue as long as possible. I'm by no means an expert, nor have I dealt with all possible complications, but you and others gave me a foundation to start from and the confidence to give it a shot, Thank you. Here's wishing you the best in the future, and assuring you that you didn't waste the past.

If can make a go of things on a very small level, I'm going to give it a shot. I trained and worked my rear for others for close to 25 years. It was great making a good wage, and not having the responsibilities of ownership, but, for once, JUST ONCE, I want to see my name on the sign! I will keep it VERY SMALL, and easy to manage. Tanning mostly small stuff, all smaller than moose. No wild sheep, mtn goats, or skins like that. I have no desire to get rich, I just want to make a living.

Luckily, I have a couple of job offers to supliment my income from folks that don't care if I do my own thing on the side. During the slow summer months, I hope to travel some, train shavers, and do some consulting. Anyway, I hope it works out!?

Thanks for the good wishes ! I appreciate it!

It was great meeting you at the Jim Allred Supply open house and hearing you freely give out the advice of your numerous years of experience for those of us seeking to improve our tanning knowledge. As all the others have said, I am rooting for you as well and hope all turns out great for you.
