[size=18pt][size=14pt]Artistic School of Taxidermy Recent Student Pictures 5/3/2017 Here are some great pieces that Nate put together while he trained at Artistic School of Taxidermy. Nate found out just how important it is to do a good skinning job on your critter in the field as it reflects on how much sowing you have to do when you go to put it together. "My Fingers Hurt" :D Nate you were fun to teach and I wish you all the success in your taxidermy endeavors and thanks for choosing Artistic School of Taxidermy!

[size=18pt][size=14pt]Artistic School of Taxidermy Recent Student Pictures 5/8/2017 Hello everyone! Alyssa ventured over from Western Oregon to learn how to do rugs, medium life-size and large-lifesize. She had her work cut out for her but in the end she prevailed and did an incredible job on all her pieces. Even without paint and putty they look amazing. Alyssa, you were a pleasure to instruct and thank you for choosing ASOT and I look forward to your return!

    Top Notch

As mentioned in the subject line I believe Artistic School of Taxidermy is TOP NOTCH! I had the opportunity to spend 17 days in the beautiful town of Kooskia Idaho with one of the best in the taxidermy business. Starting a new adventure in life can bring some butterflies to ones stomach, especially when you haven't a clue what your getting yourself into, but I can assure you if you visit Troy Rose you will rest easy once you start your session. I am not the kind of person to spend any amount of money without full research on what I am buying which led up to my choice of schools. The biggest selling points for me, on ASOT, were the fact that the room and board was included and the studio was open 24/7 for the students. After crunching the numbers and comparing them to other schools in the U.S. I had quickly decided that ASOT was the best "bang for you buck". I then studied Troy's work and became excited because if you learn from the best you are already miles ahead of your competition. Now, lets discuss the accommodations. When I arrived, it was pitch black dark and I had no idea where I was but upon waking up in the morning I glanced out the window to see the slice of heaven Troy calls home. Obviously, I am an outdoor enthusiast so the 30+ whitetail deer and 8 turkeys in the yard every morning is awesome. An enormous, very clean, and beautiful house to stay in with some great grub made my stay easy and comfortable. (Troy doesn't mention that he is a great cook on his webpage)

    The Brass Tax

As I said earlier, I knew very little about taxidermy but was open minded and ready to learn anything Troy was willing to teach. Troy started me out the first morning with an exercise that I was a little unsure about but upon completion realized the effect it had on my attention to detail for the remainder of my stay. Troy is a true "teacher" and I can attest that he has a lot of patience with his students. I brought with me a couple of extra curricular projects hoping he would give me pointers on and he welcomed those projects with open arms. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, I learned a ton of information, and I highly recommend Artistic School of Taxidermy to anyone interested in the field. In my 17 days I completed 3 deer heads, 1 3/4 life size bear, and 1 raccoon. With Troy's teaching I hope to excel in taxidermy and if I'm lucky I might be half as good as him one day!

I will definitely be a return customer in the future!! Thanks again Troy!!

I have got to say that Troy is one bad ombre when it comes to taxidermy. I had an amazing time at Artistic School of Taxidermy for 21 days. Not anything bad to say at all.....the food was freaking awesome and the hospitality even better. I learned ALOT while in idaho (even a little Kooskia culture) lol and also made a new life long friend. Thank you again for teaching me what you did and I am looking forward to coming back one day! If I could give any advice to anyone it would be to definitely give Artistic School of Taxidermy a shot, you will not be disappointed! Thanks again Troy.

[size=18pt][size=14pt]Artistic School of Taxidermy Recent Student Pictures 5/14/2017 Once again, I had the pleasure of a return student coming back to learn more. Lance decided to tackle large life-size mammals this time. He soon realized they are not as easy as gameheads. With all the frustrations aside, Lance did a great job on his two mountain lions. Thanks again for choosing ASOT![IMG]

I was as green as they come when it came to taxidermy, so I did my research on taxidermy schools and decided that ASOT was the right fit for me. I emailed and talked with Troy on several occasions before booking a 10 day bird course for late February 2017. Troy picked me up from the airport and on the way to his house (which was as good or better than everyone said it was.). I told him "I wasn't an artsy fartsy kind of person". He said he had something for me the next morning. That next morning I showed him how non artsy fartsy and non-detail oriented I really was. Troy wasn't deterred and has the patience of a saint. There was another student there learning birds who was also named Russ. It didn't take long and we didn't make it hard for Troy to tell us apart. When it came to the flesher I put holes everywhere and Russ ripped things, so I became "Holie Oly" and he was "Rippin Russ". Troy stuck with me through 10 days, most of which were 10-12 hours in the shop. Troy gave me the tools and confidence needed to make an artistic mount, not just how to do bird taxidermy.

Looking Forward to Coming Back for Further Training

hello everyone, this is Russ Harris (now known as Rippin Russ after quality time spent on Troys Flesher!) after recently selling my business I decided to try something I thought I could love and maybe make a buck doing it. With a serious passion for waterfowl hunting I decided to give bird taxidermy a try. From online research and a short conversation with Troy on the phone, I knew ASOT was the school to try. after really struggling the first two days, I had my doubts about loving this NOT. thanks to Troy I learned I had patience and possibly I could do this. He lets you work at your own pace with no pressure but still teaches a great attention to detail with no shortcuts. The atmosphere, meals, accommodations and above all the instruction is all first class! After just nine days I returned home with the knowledge of a trade I love and can make a buck. Thanks Troy keep up the good work. And I can't forget a thanks to Oly my partner in crime and fellow student, you need to trade that badge in for a scalpel full time! Keep that flesher warm Troy ill be back!!

[size=18pt][size=14pt]Artistic School of Taxidermy Recent Student Pictures 5/14/2017 Just finished up 8 great days with Fred from Central Utah on how to put a nice gamehead together. [size=18pt][size=14pt]Artistic School of Taxidermy Recent Student Pictures 5/21/2017 Here is a nice mountain lion Cody did while he was here. I meet Cody at a Taxidermy Show last summer and he said he would like to learn how to do a good cat. Tackling large life-size mammals is not an easy task, but Cody pulled it off and did a fantastic job on his lion! Cody, you were fun to teach! Send me pics when you get it all done, and as always, thanks again for choosing ASOT!

I spent a week with troy back in April. After already having some taxidermy experince Troy really expanded my knowledge going into more in depth ways of mounting. He really showed my how to bring my mounts to life! I would recommend anyone wanting to learn taxidermy to give Troy a call.

I just completed 8 awesome days with Troy (May 2017). I had a great time and I learned way more than I ever imagined or expected. During my time there, I completed an elk, mule deer and whitetail deer. I would highly recommend Troy and the Artistic Taxidermy School to anyone who wishes to learn the art of Taxidermy. The accommodations were top notch and the view was amazing.. I look forward to returning to learn full body mounts...If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me.......Thanks Fred

[size=18pt][size=14pt]Artistic School of Taxidermy Recent Student Pictures 6/10/2017 I had the pleasure of a return student coming back to learn more. Toni learned the finer points of game heads and turkeys. We were only able to do base colors on the turkey head and the pig and deer were still not dry to finish, but as you can see they came out great. Excellent job Toni! Thanks again for choosing ASOT! Lonnie made his third venture out to ASOT to learn the finer points of doing large life-size mammals. His frustration level hit an all time high, but in the end he prevailed and did a fantastic job on his bear! Lonnie, I enjoyed teaching you the art, and thanks again for choosing Artistic School of Taxidermy!
