You did not purchase shock for a Non Chlorinated Pool. If you asked for that specifically and that is what they gave you, then they gave you the wrong thing. If you selected it and read that on the label and bought it anyway there isn't anything to be done. In other words, either dump out and dispose of what you bought or take it back and ask for what you specified. What you came home with is nothing more than industrial strength bleach. Chlorine, and it destroys bone as you have now found out. Lots of posts on here and many recently specifically stating that the pool shock needed is straight Hydrogen Peroxide and it will state that on the label. As you used it to destroy a skull, I don't know if the place you got it from will take it back and either refund your money or give you the right thing. They may just say it was an unauthorized use and end the conversation. The stuff you have, if you are stuck with it, don't even pour it down the toilet. It will seriously screw up your cesspool. You might consider bagging it and taking it to your public disposal area unless you want to bleach a garage floor or something.

Two posts. One recent. https://www.taxidermy.net/threads/416221 https://www.taxidermy.net/threads/88638/

  3. exactly what was said above. completely wrong product. baquacil oxidizer is nothing but straight 27% hydrogen peroxide and what you needed for your skulls. as seawolf said you basically bought bleach which will whiten a skull but will also destroy it.

  6. You can soak it straight in it or mix with magnesium carbonate to make a paste or BW2(basic white powder)

Saddle when i contact my local pool supply store they ask alot of questions and wanted me to go a different direction. I went online and Found Exactly what Sea Wolf told me to get and ordered it. Now i found you will need to purchase 4 - 1 gallon jugs because this is the way it comes. $85 on Ebay with free delivery. Now you may find it some other place but beware of shipping cost.

If the people at the pool place don't know what they have, go back and ask for "SHOCK for pools with NO CHLORINE". If they don't comprehend, try asking for Peroxide shock ... then try asking for either Baquacil Oxidiser or Pool Mate. If they come up with something, make sure you really read the contents label. You are looking for Hydrogen peroxide. It might even state 27% (usually what it is). No other ingredients unless it is a stabilizer. NOTHING ELSE! .. If they are still clueless, ask if you can take a look at what they have for pool shock. It's possible they don't have it. Good thing possibly because, if they don't know what they have and what it does .. and they pour chlorine shock into a pool with peroxide already in it they are going to kill someone.
