Dont post comments in for sale ads

If you folks knew how many comments are edited each day in the for sale section, youd wonder if ANYONE reads the rules. Your comments bump the post back to the top. We have CLEARLY explained this and everything else in the first two posts in this category.

Look, I dont mind editing in here, Ive done it for years. But I hate to think a potential buyer is sitting out there waiting to get a phone call from a seller...that isnt going to call. Or a seller hoping to move an item but the buyer doesnt follow our simple rules. We want our members to be able to get together and buy and sell. We are happy to help you do that here.

Once again...buyers, click the sellers name and follow the directions to message them here. Sellers, besides our messaging option, give these folks some ways to get in touch with you, like a phone number or ACTIVE email, or check your messages here.

Also, you might want to check your messages because I do send reminders to you when I delete comments, so youll be able to message the seller instead. Also, if the sellers return the comments on their ad...it gets deleted. Please everyone, be considerate of your fellow members. Review the rules, and good luck buying and selling. Thanks.

I understand money, but these ads are a pain in the ....
Is there a way to just delete ALL commercial ads That always get in the way of reading the items that DO belong there.
    Maybe an X somewhere.
Maybe give the advertisers their own column. You know....
    Buyers
    Sellers
    Comments
    Commercial ads
    Etc.

Definitely not a win from this side of the computer.
    Just asking.

Go ahead and repost your post. But dont reply to replies in the ads unless its a 7 day bump anyway. Just read the rules, it says how you click on their name and it opens a menu thats easy to follow. Good luck on sales.

Thanks for posting that, Bill! I was curious why so many were posting in the for sale section all of a sudden and thought maybe I missed a rule change during the transition to the new forum format. PM ing doesn't feel as easy as it used to but emailing and texting seem to work fine.

    Thanks again!

I belong to a hunting site that has a sales page . The sale page has no reply tab, so there is no way to reply to sales post other them emails and PMs. Mods got tired of deleting post on the sales page and that is how it was handled.

Doug, for some reason the format or program Ken uses doesnt allow it, as he wants sellers to be able to bump after 7 days.

Marc, Im not sure whats any different about PMing now vs before, other than one additional click. Before we click their name and it brough up a message box...now you click their name and it gives you coices which incluse a message option. Good luck and thanks guys for your input.

Bill, If i want to PM someone that has posted a for sale add. Do you just click the start a conversation tab instead of replying to the post?

21...PLEASE read the rules. But yes, you click the name which gives options, one of which is "start a conversation". Thanks for asking and good luck.

Okay, I think we are all in the habit of following directions. But if people just get on the for sale forum and bypass the section on rules to find what they want to buy they are going to continue to break the rules. So they find a skin they are interested in and see that BIG BUTTON that says REPLY. So that means that they can reply to the post, otherwise the button would'nt be there, right? So out of habit, they are just following the directions that are in front of them. So they hit the Reply button and break the rules. If its a rule, not to reply to posts, then why is the reply button available to click. The button should say " 7 Day Bump TTT", Not "Reply". I can see where it is going to be a constant battle unless you make the forum layout to Agree with your rules. Like change the Reply button to say "7 Day Bump TTT".

Also I can see where people send a message to a buyer to buy something and the seller does'nt pay attention to his messages. And in the meantime someone breaks the rule and hits the reply button to tell the seller that he wants to buy it. So the Rule Breaker ends up buying the item even though he was not the first to respond. I strongly believe that the the Reply button is Far Too Misleading and Invites People to Hit the Reply Button and do just as it tells them to do. REPLY! in the Meantime there is going to be Alot of Unhappy Campers with sellers, buyers and members that are being chased down by the Forum Police.

When I come to the forum to buy something and hindered by no replys to PM's but don't want to break the rules. I am a Unhappy Camper.

    Just saying!

To me, if it were MY site, I definitely would do a few things differently. That said, Ken has his reasons for how it is done. The rules are very visible and very clear. The other rule breakers comments are removed and typically before the seller gets back online. Moderating this site has slowly become babysitting. Bottom line...if the guy cant reply to his messages in a timely way, what makes you think he will send you your item?

waaaaay too many asking questions or commenting on for sale ads rather than follow the rules and pm the seller. how conceited and arrogant people can be. I always wait the 7 days to bump any ad I have and seems quick as I do it is on page umptetwo due to rule breakers.

Well I will say it again. The problem is a Faulty Forum Layout. You Put a Reply button in front of people and they will use it!

I agree with classic about the odd layout. I did read the directions and follow them however; I am an old timer as most on this site probably are. Younger kids are used to pecking out a ten step process to get to their end game. I like simple. Why cant a PM box be added to the bottom of the post next to the reply box (I agree change that name to 7bump). Simple, maybe ask Ken to do it and he will???
