Does anyone know where you can buy individual Derwent Water color pencils for fish?

Walmart, Art stores, Hobby Lobby, etc. Any water color pencils will work. I happen to use Faber-Castell water color pencils because that is what I use for my drawings, but all will work well when watered down. :)

Thank you Kerby, I also use that brand but interested in the Derwent brand. Does any Taxidermy supplier sell them?

Thank you Ken for this information. I've been looking for a long time but no success. Will give'em a try.

Like Ken, I love the Derwent Inktense pencils. It's much cheaper to buy the set. I got the 72 Derwent Inktense set for $58 bucks and free shipping (Prime) on Amazon. Use to get them individually at Blicks, but that was walking in to one of their stores. Shipping (cost) isn't worth ordering individually. You can order any of the Derwent pencil sets through Amazon. Cheapest by far...

Amazon is my go-to. I get the Derwent Inktense pencils, and they also make a set of 12 Inktense blocks that are solid pigment sticks. These can be used like pastels, or with a brush- great for larger areas. Another favorite is their water soluable sketching pencils- they come in a set with 3ish graphite weights. Think of it like a drawing pencil that you can blend with water- great for spots! Over years of experience, (I am an art teacher as well as this-) Derwent wins for being long lasting, not fading and being sturdy (both the core and the shaft). Happy Days!

OhDear - we have similar backgrounds - except you're crazy enough to actually teach in today's world (Thank you for your service - ;)) I dip the Inktense Derwent's all the time in water to create spots and different effects. Didn't know about the Derwent pigment sticks - thank you for the info!

I must've got a great deal b/c the distributor I bought my 72 set from on Amazon at $58 bucks is now at $73 bucks for the same set of 72 pencils. Still a great deal though!

Wow! JW Elwood Taxidermy Supply! Now that catalog cover sure takes me back to my bad ole days. I still have several largemouth bass on my shop wall that I mounted way back then....LITERALLY "stuffed" with a gooey mixture of sawdust and Elmer's Glue!

I found an unopen box of JW Elwood "Fish Mix" one day and used it for "mache" to fill in on some deer mounts. I think that's all it was was paper mache.
I remember making a half-mold from the fresh fish and then once pickled the skin was placed back into the "mold" so you couldn't over -stuff it....
I kept a lot of my old NW School of Taxidermy stuff and want to show it to my grandkids some day.... still haven't found a kid near me to mentor and teach the traditions but hey, I'm in CA and surrounded by vegetarians!
