Opinions On Best High Volume Head Setup

Make sure the shed is solid to keep out flies and whatnot. Any openings should have screens of a fine enough mesh to keep out pests. Some will still get in but you won't be swarmed by them. Insulate it so you can effectively heat it in the winter. Set it up so you can adequately ventilate it to disperse odors as well as keep the interior humidity from skyrocketing.

I do all my skulls the same. I won't turn out a half done head or rush jobs. My name goes out the door with these and I won't have someone show an old, yellowed and grungy skull to someone years down the road and say that I was the one that did that job. Bad advertising IMHO. I tell clients that it takes time to turn out something of quality. I have a couple of skulls that were just boiled and whitened. I hand these over to be looked at, then hand them a skull that had a 3 or 4 month wait time. I have never had someone ask for the 2 day job .. though I do occasionally get pestered by folks that get antsy with waiting. I have the whole process written out with estimated times from start to finish and each client reads and signs this.

 

That is a shame about the theft issue. Sad. Fortunately, I have an assorted collection of huskies and malamutes and, though they would not harm anyone, their size and appearance (and howling) has been enough to deter even clients that want to come and see. There are others on here that have outbuildings and large scale operations. I have beetles but they are in the house and only used for small, delicate things. I macerate now ... and ... no one wants to get near that.

 

I do a fairly high volume, but like SeaWolf said can't mix quality with speed, there is just no way to do it I have found a good balance but I still am a few weeks on a deer and that doesn't count the time in line. But I have repeat customers all the time because I do throw out quality. Here is a pic of a couple of days ago in my shop. Just keep them coming in you will figure it out, I used to worry about 30 now 300 doesn't phase me.

But what grand chaos it is. Was that ram shot or was it a pickup? Nice bear on the freezer btw. By the wear on the teeth it looks like an old one.
