Are these interchangable on manikins? With my aging eyesight I am not sure I see that much difference between the two in catalogs. What is the difference?

The nose and the preorbital areas and the width are the biggest differences I see in the manikins I have here.

The whole head is different. The neck on a mule deer in my experience can be a little longer from shoulder to head and the shoulders seam thicker and taller from brisket to top of shoulder on a mule deer. When I have made a hybrid form because I wanted the whitetail pose, I used a change out head, lengthened the neck (which I don't think anyone would notice if I didn't, but, I did it according to measurements) and just went with the shoulders. The few that I did turned out great.

Thanks for the insights. I guess I will search for a whitetail change out head for my project.

I feel that changing a whitetail into a mule deer is better than changing a mule deer into a white tail.

  7. There are some whitetail forms out there that are suitable for a mule deer. More so than for a whitetail!

  8. I know there are some slight differences, you all know there is.
There isn’t one single customer that would know the difference with either one mounted on either one.
And whole of them would think its the best deer they ever seen mounted on a sheep Form:eek:.:(:( As long as it has hair, eyes and antlers, your a Michael Angelo, picasso,Devinci all rolled into one.

The original Ben Mears SUO series carried by McKenzie makes a great looking mule deer mount. The forms have a massive head with wide nose pad and a beefy brow.
