I'd purchase some Krowtann 2000 for better results.

Go to a auto part store buy battery acid.

    Two things:
    1) Krotann is NOT the cure to every taxidermy ill. If it is for you, you need to widen your skills.
    2) Using sulfuric acid as a pickle is about the most unwise choice you can make. Sulfuric acid is quite harsh (sulfur) and dangerous to work with. Never pour water into sulfuric acid. It can react violently and splash out, burning everything it touches. Pour the acid into the water using rubber gloves and close to the surface.

Google is your friend in finding where to purchase chemicals up there. I’d use Formic acid.

A quick google search turned up several taxidermy supply companies in Canada.
Select Taxidermy Products Ltd. lists Safety Acid in it's catalog. It's your best alternative..

Roonie, that was really cute....for a snot nosed, prepubescent schoolgirl. But then again, if you think Krotann is the next best thing to sliced bread, you probably arent old enough to carry a shotgun over your shoulder.

Maybe I am ignorant but why would anyone use sulphuric acid when there are much safer alternatives available? What possible benefit could there be? (<--- legit question)

ok guys...#1 Im trying to find it local as shipping is a killer up here even for one item
#2 I only have one cape to do and dont plan on doing another
#3 Select taxidermy...i wouldnt give them a slice of my bread
#4 the smallest amount of formic i can buy is one 4 lts...thats 1 gallon for all you yankees if i can be so politically correct

so now you have all the reasons why im looking for sulfuric. I, after many phone calls, have found some locally and for a lousy $10 to do my deer cape. My friend that moved away, cause i know you will think...mmm..."why doesnt he get some from his friend".., used sulfuric for many many years with great results...ribbons even..lol

shotgun over the shoulder...i never stated once "Krotann". You must have me mixed up with another post...keep shooting those clays..hehe all in fun of coarse...if ya loose your sense of humor, especially on websites, your screwed!
and REMEMBER...if you have dental amalgams in your teeth and you take the drug tetracycline, you become one toxic MOFO !

it was merely my sense of humor. Is there something wrong with joking to a guy with a shotgun over his shoulder..."mr. shotgun over your shoulder".....i mean really..comon...lighten up already.

walkstoofar...there is no "proper acid"...when it comes to pickle there a lot of ways to skin a cat

i used formic for many years back in the day and i can tell you its just as unsafe as sulfuric

what ive learned in life is so many people take text and warp it into whatever they feel in the moment with lots of assumtion...for this reason im ...OUT... and back to lurking....lol
