Another Source For Shipping Larger Crates

    I posted this in the fish section as it was related to fish but this same thing would work for heads and possibly turkeys.
    I recently shipped three fish (in two crates) to a customer out of state. One of the fish was large enough that it needed to go by truck freight. Crate ended up 68x42x20, 100lbs. Second crate 45x30x24. Customer has had things shipped to him by Greyhound before and suggested to use them. I was able to ship both boxes from Missouri to michigan for a little over $200.
    I dropped off at a Greyhound terminal and customer picked up at the terminal there but they do have door to door also for more money.
    Anyway, I was very satisfied. I think it goes without saying that the crates would take a lot less abuse in the cargo area of a bus than in the back of a semi getting handled by dumbasses and forklifts.
    If you set up an account and do the paperwork online it's at a lower cost then just showing up.

    Hello,

    Just curious if you knew how much Greyhound would pay in the event your client's crate was stolen during transit?

    Let me know if I can help provide a shipping quote to you for your larger crates. My company might offer better rates than Greyhound, less hassle (not having you drive to a terminal) and more insurance coverage in case your crate gets lost, damaged or stolen in transit. For only about $35 added to each quote we cover $5,000.00.

    Greyhound is terrible. My brother sent a $900 dollar set of elk antlers thru them, and they let a person that was not the one that bought it sign for it and they walked away with the antlers and Greyhound did nothing about it and my brother was out nine hundred dollars because he had to refund the guy that bought it. And Greyhound gave my brother nothing. we have not done anything with them since.

    I have not built a crate for USA shipments of taxidermy in years. There are several trophy transporters that will pick up mounts at your shop and deliver them right to your clients door . Inexpensively and efficiently. Client pays on delivery. Zero problem.

    Ok, I have a guy in Canada who want to buy my 55 gal. tumbler. It would ship to wash. Where he would get it.
    What’s the best way? I thought build a pallet and send freight but maybe one of you all have a better idea?

    Talking shipping, it has gone thru the roof . I’m in MD , McKenzie have a distribution centers in PA , if I order by 10 am I can get it the next day usually. That’s how close they are , anyway I place a 3 thousand dollar order around February every year . After doing so this past year they told me the shipping cost was close to $800 by UPS , I like to fall over , I then ask if we could bulk load and go by trucking she said she would ck into it and get back to me . I have a box truck and was going to go pick it up if need be , but didn’t want to loose a day in the shop of fleshing and tanning . I figured anything over $200 it would be worth me just going and getting it as it would cost me that in gas and tolls and such . She called me back said it would take a week to be delivered at a cost of $165 , I was like hell ya truck it . Sorry for rambling on , point is shipping by truck is the way to go . Some may not know what I mean by bulk load , they put all forms in a huge box on a pallet . I had close to 40 deer forms and 2 elk and other things in one box . Plus your bigger forms don’t need to be cut in half . The only way to go
