All of this could have been avoided. I guess in the future a contract will need to be drawn up to state a finish deadline on anything people want to see done.
Joe make sure you leave a notarized memo on when you want a memorial completed by. You will be remembered. That goes For you to George. So many on here owe a lot to you for offering advice to all. I for one will make sure bricks will be bondoed together.

Hi Joe,Unfortunately that's one short list.Firstly good on you ALL who are on the list,
I didn't donate as i though hundreds of people would, how wrong was I.
To make things worst i haven't done any research on Mr Akeley so i don't have any attachment to him ,something that will soon do is find out what type of person he was, I do know he is though of highly on this site so i'm guessing he was a trail blazer ,taxidermy to me is just a hobby i do for me only.
It would nice touch though to fill out the rest of the grass areas with bricks [UNSIGNED],please let me know if you are starting another donation drive i will definitely kick some cash in, thanks mick

Brian, how many bricks did you buy? You tend to be a smartass from the cheap seats many times. I have this sense of truth that many roll over and hide from. Anyone who knows me knows that I IMMEDIATELY admit fault and apologize when I'm wrong, but if you accuse me of lying without anything other than tender feelings let me quote what I once told Tom Voyer when he tried just what she said. I told him he'd rather screw a bobcat with a barbedwire dildo than accuse me of lying. My character hasn't changed.

All I've seen thus far is itching and moaning by a squirrely curator who's pissed that I had the audacity to report facts. I have YET to see specific answers to my questions or even a hint of contrition or apology after singling me out. At no point did I never accused her of misusing or misappropriating funds as others have. She just picked the wrong guy to try and humiliate.

I will say this I'm new here just a little over one year being a member of this site. My first reaction of you was a hard hitting, crusty character. Though the first few months I found you were honest best of all honest to your self. Give good advice cause many to think. You bring things to light that maybe passed over.

At least people know where you stand.

    Dave,
I don't know who you are, but you sure got my attention with this post! I could hardly stop laughing. Let me tell you, I appreciate the compliment that you think there might could one day be a monument dedicated to me and one to George or, (May the saints preserve us..) one to George and me together. Whewwww! First, neither of us would find such a project deserving. I wouldn't donate to my own much less George's. As for bricks, you'd have to bond them together with something stronger than bondo or gorilla glue. Neither of our ghosts would tolerate a union like that for very long.

BTW... I don't know about you but I'm not done with responding to George's mean spirited posts, and his over the top ad hominem attacks on ierlan66. For a man born and raised in southern cultural traditions of good manners and respect for women, he's shocking me now. I just have to ponder what it is I'd like to say so there's no mistaking what I mean.

What bricks are you bonding together? It won't be the bricks at the Akeley Monument.

Memorials aren’t there for what a person thinks of themselves but what others think of them and want them to be remembered lest we forget our history.
If someone thinks they deserve a memorial then they probably don’t.
It’s a sad time in our country’s history where statues and memorials at being removed. The way things are goin it would not surprise me if certain people would want Mr Akleys memorial covered up because he was a hunter.
As far as George’s comments to a woman and his southern upbringing I would say this. He was brought up to respect women but women’s actions back then deserved respect. He
Speaks out on things that most are thinking at times.
I threw in the Bondo comment because of his disdain for people thinking it’s a glue. I hope someone someday sets a can of bondo next to his tombstone. I would also like to see trail cam put nearby to see him rise up some night and kick the Can off there.

Joe, sadly the generation of chivalry is almost gone completely. You ARE correct, no man would have talked to a woman like that in the 50's, but there's another side to that coin that no lady would have ever slandered the character of someone for simply reporting facts. (Divorce courts are filled with people who don't agree with your point of view, Joe.) The ONE thing I learned from my years in service, whether you're killed by a man, a woman, or a child, you're just as dead. There was nothing "ad hominem" about MY remarks unless the definition has changed. Many of you think I went there to see my name in print, but you have no clue as to those who asked me to make sure I got a picture of THEIR NAMES and where they were in relation to the stone. Had Melissa come on here, simply acknowledged the mission was behind, apologized for not being able to speak to me personally, and telling me (and everyone else here) what had happened and how things were going, I'd have acknowledged her efforts and thanked her. Instead, she came on here with a satchel charge and threw it at me. And REALLY, don't you think that picture might have been taken FROM the side of the headstone instead of making sure that the one legible name on the bricks was mine at the very bottom. (In retrospect, I suppose she surreptitiously game me the attention she thinks I craved.)

Why would I apologize for not speaking to you? You never called! You never left a message if you did call! What part of that is not sinking in to your thick skull! I did not slander you. You are a jerk and my perception is my reality. Hope you comprehend this now.

I do not have a home phone. I have a cell and an office extension. AGAIN if someone does not answer then you should leave a messge. That way they can call back. Otherwise people DO NOT know you called AND then go on a website and cry about it!

LMAO "cry about it"? Hardly. I simply exposed the truth and obviously you have an issue with being called out. Sucks to be you. Your perception doesn't mean squat to me. That was the first and most likely the last time I'll ever be near your quiet town. I had been asked by several people to stop by and take a picture of the stones. That's the only reason I came by in the first place. And why should I have left a message? YOU said John had called you so I'm sure he gave you my cell number. Leaving a message is useless to someone traveling through. If you can't answer, I'm not likely to sit and wait all day for a return call and if I've left, I'm damned sure not turning around. In all honesty, I don't recall every hearing someone so intent on covering up an issue as you have. Trust me, the comments I've made on this post were so very much milder than others who've called me have made. It's over. It's a done deal at this point. Now get the Hell off the taxidermy site with your whining.

While traveling from Niagara Falls to Cooperstown. I decided to take a side trip over to the Hillside Cemetery in Clarendon and visit the Akeley memorial and take a few pictures of the pavers and the stone.
So did you decide to take a side trip or were you asked to make it? As you just stated it was the ONLY reason you stopped. Make up your mind! A least I can keep my story straight.

NOPE wrong again, John did not give me your number. Do you think people are just holding their phones out waiting for you to call so they can answer? You are pretty full of yourself aren't you. As for the "people" who asked you to stop by and look at the stones, IF and I say IF you had simply called and left a message I likely would have returned your call ASAP. THEN I would have dropped what I was doing to meet you and I am pretty sure I would have opened the garage door at the cemetery and showed you the BRICKS that were there but not yet installed.
I would have taken you to the museum an showed you the Akeley items in the collection which include Original photos taken by him. But again, you are so important and I missed your call. (I highly doubt you even called) So SUCKS to be YOU!

And there you go again slandering me. I have this thing about lying and people who stoop to accuse me of it. Clarendon must be desperate to have someone like you representing them.
