Taxidermist Nightmare

LOL...had a guy bring me one of those plus a piece of skin he picked up at the skinning rack so I could "make" him a shoulder mount!!!

 

I have had the same happen to me only not with a palmated rack like that with bases that could send you for medical treatment.

 

Happens at least twice a year.

 

Makes me think of plunking it on a stick mount.

 

by the way his stubby face and fat neck look he is a moose

 

I love when they hang a deer upside down and pack it with ice and as it melts , the head and neck absorbs it and swells3 times it’s normal size, they are hard to skin and even worse to flesh

 

I have had them come in like that. What a mess to deal with.

 

This cape was from the hunters best deer.!!!! I managed to save it by making patches from trimmings. Must have worked because I never mentioned it to the guy and he loved the mount. I had several folks look at the mount and no one noticed.

 

Had a guy bring one in from out of state yesterday. Horns in one hand Cape in a gallon ziploc bag. I dread thawing it out!

 

It is a shame but some things never change and one could argue they are getting worse.

 

Really hate to share this one but I had a customer dead set on this exact mount. I tried and tried to talk him into other choices from an antler mount, skull mount or use a full cape from another deer....... no luck changing his mind customer is always right.....and this one was very happy with the outcome.
